Biography

Yu Jianhua, male, a Han national, was a native of Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. Born in December 1961, Yu started his career in August 1982 and joined the CPC in June 1991. He graduated from China Foreign Affairs University, majoring in international relations, and acquired an MBA from the University of Birmingham of the UK.

Having worked successively as the Second Secretary of the Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office of the Mission of China to the EU and the Chinese Embassy in Belgium, Deputy Division Director and Division Director of the Department of European Affairs and Division Director of the Department of International Economic and Trade Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC), Yu was promoted to Deputy Director-General of the Department of WTO Affairs of MOFTEC in November 2001 and Director-General of the Department of International Trade and Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) in October 2006...

    Having worked successively as the Second Secretary of the Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office of the Mission of China to the EU and the Chinese Embassy in Belgium, Deputy Division Director and Division Director of the Department of European Affairs and Division Director of the Department of International Economic and Trade Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC), Yu was promoted to Deputy Director-General of the Department of WTO Affairs of MOFTEC in November 2001 and Director-General of the Department of International Trade and Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) in October 2006. From July 2007 to August 2008 he served on secondment as Deputy Secretary-General and Member of Party Leadership Group of the General Office of the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Yu was appointed Assistant Minister and member of the CPC Leadership Group of the Ministry of Commerce in January 2011 and was promoted to Deputy China International Trade Representative (vice-ministerial level) and member of the CPC Leadership Group of MOFCOM in May 2013.
